Linda's teaching interests are in the professional practice and industry related courses of contracts and specifications, scheduling, project delivery systems and computer-based project management. She has 20 years of experience in the management of design/construction projects in both heavy and building construction. Linda believes strongly in incorporating her experience into active learning situations within the classroom.
Linda typically teaches classes on campus during summer sessions, including the International Senior Design (ISD) courses which have an on-site construction component in addition to the design project. She and her husband, Dennis Magolan, direct ISD which has gained national recognition. ISD is a part of the D80 Center.
Linda is a registered engineer, a Project Management Professional (PMP), as well as a Certified Documents Technologist (CDT). She received the CEE Department Howard Hill Teaching Award in 1999 and 2000 and was the PMI Minnesota Project manager of the Year in 1988. She has published and presented on ISD, construction, project management and contract related topics for ASCE, Project Management Institute (PMI), American Society of Engineering Educators (ASEE) and Engineers Without Borders (EWB).
Linda was MTU's visiting Artist in Residence in 1998. She is a charter member of the MTU Presidential Council of Alumnae and has been involved with MTU's Summer Youth and Women/Minorities in Engineering Programs for years.
