New Buoy For Lake Superior
The new buoy that was launched on Friday July 9 is the first of three coastal monitoring buoys that will be deployed by Michigan Tech in an effort to collect data on weather, surface and subsurface water temperature, wind speed and direction, wave height and air temperature in the Great Lakes.

Canoe Team Take 4th in Nation
Michigan Tech Concrete Canoe Team triumphantly returned to the National Concrete Canoe Competition in San Luis Obispo, California and earned an impressive 4th place out of the 22 qualifying teams.

Michigan Technological University has the largest Peace Corps Master’s International Program (PCMI) in the nation, with 55 students enrolled in seven programs. But it wasn’t just the quantity of volunteers that brought the national manager of the PCMI program to the University Tuesday, March 30. It’s also their quality. |

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) has named Michigan Tech's student chapter as one of seven winners of Premier Chapter Awards this year. The awards are sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers and include a $1,000 prize. Michigan Tech's chapter was selected from more than 250 student and professional chapters nationwide. Its president is Ashley Thode, a civil and environmental engineering major, and the advisors are David Watkins and Kurt Paterson.
