Fletcher McKenzie, BS Civil Engineering, BA Spanish, Colorado State University, MS planned in Environmental Engineering

Fletcher McKenzie grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado where he enjoyed the desert climate and outdoor activities of the southwest such as mountain biking, climbing, rafting, snowboarding, and a slew of other stuff. Travelling to Mexico as a small boy, Fletcher realized his passion for exploring the world. At CSU he obtained his degree in Civil Engineering because an advisor said it would be the most compatible engineering degree for the Peace Corps. The love for learning language transformed from fulfilling a humanities credit to a minor and finally into a BA because of the inability to stop taking more Spanish courses. Fletcher has studied abroad in Granada, Spain and Valparaíso, Chile and learned about the wonders of the foreign world. He now embarks on a new adventure in da U.P. of Michigan, ¿eh?, for an advanced preparation for sustainable engineering in the developing world. Fletcher has done an undergraduate research project on an agricultural decision support system for the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District as a McNair scholar at CSU and worked on a water supply and distribution plan for the small village of San Antonio Abad, El Salvador for his senior design project. After graduating, Fletcher worked for Bishop-Brogden Associates as a staff engineer on water accounting plans, water rights transactions, and various other water consulting projects. Fletcher is planning to go to the Peace Corps in August 2008 after completing the year at Tech in the PCMI program, hopefully going to Latin America to pursue his dreams of travel, excitement, and the great unknown. Sí-po, va a estar la raja, ¿cachay huevón? Jajajajaj ajajajajajjajajajajjajajajjaja
