Examinations, and Assignments

Tentatively the class will have two tests and one term project. The tests will be traditional open-book in-class exams. The term project will be based on a problem of your own choice. You are strongly recommended to explore a specific aspect of your graduate research. A final report and presentation will be required of every student/student group.

In addition, this being a graduate class, there will be a strong emphasis on reading peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. Readings will be assigned each week and students will be required to turn in a critique of the reading within a week's time in class. Tentatively, the following grading scheme will be followed:

7 homework assignments - 30%
2 tests - 35%
project - 30%
Class participation - 5%
