Introduction

The objective of this course is to introduce students to the basics of construction estimating, planning and control. Most of these techniques are applicable regardless of the type of project, delivery system or contract type. Drawing interpretation and quantity take-off techniques will be explored leading to the development of an estimate. Students will be exposed to simple statistical approaches to account for uncertainty in developing estimates. Emphasis will be laid upon the interdependence between cost and schedule and the impacts of decision making on both.
