The objective of this course is to introduce students to the basics of construction estimating. Most of these techniques are applicable regardless of the type of project, delivery system or contract type. Drawing interpretation and quantity take-off techniques will be explored leading to the development of an estimate. Ancillary objectives will include the ability to interpret drawings and specifications and understand the logic of construction schedules.
Pre-requisites: CE 3331 and CE 3332
The class meets thrice every week.
Lectures: MW 12:00-1:00p.m. Dillman 202
Lab sessions: Th 1:00-3:00p.m. Dillman 202
Lecture sessions will focus on the theoretical and conceptual aspects of estimating, while the lab sessions will encourage interactive problem solving and discussions.
