How to apply?

Michigan Tech administers Union Pacific scholarships and CSX Diversity Scholarships. There have been 4-6 annual awards for $1,000-3,000. The application package will be available HERE for download by early February of each year and the awards are made available for students by the following summer or fall semester. For more information, contact the Director of rail program.

AREMA offers over 20 scholarships for undergraduate engineering students nationwide with interests in railroad engineering. Michigan Tech Alumni AREMA Scholarships (each $1,000) are organized through AREMA and are available for students at Michigan Tech (applicants will also be considered for general AREMA scholarships). Only one application is required for all the AREMA scholarships. The application deadline is normally the same as for Tech administered scholarships (mid-March). For more information on application process and to download applications forms, visit the AREMA web site at www.arema.org

Other scholarships: There are some other scholarships for students involved in rail transportation. Students are encouraged to search the web for such opportunities.
