Careers & Interships in Rail industry
Several graduates have started a successful career in the rail industry after their graduation from Michigan Tech. We are currently developing a list of some of the recent graduates, who hold or have held positions in the rail industry since their graduation.
In 2004-2008, over 150 students have participated in rail related on-campus courses or in Summer in Finland program. Participants have represented vide variety of engineering and other disciplines from Michigan Tech, University of Kentucky and Wayne State University. Several students have gained additional experience via internships / co-ops and many have started their career in the industry after their graduation.
Summer in Finland participants
Michigan Tech facilitates internships in the industry for the Summer in Finland program participants for the remainder of the summer. Almost 30% of all participants to date have taken advantage of that opportunity and close to 25% have started their career in the industry after graduation. Participants

Michigan Tech works continuously with the Partners and other industry companies to identify and facilitate employment opportunities for interested students. More than a dozen industry companies have been actively recruiting Michigan Tech students for internships / co-op and full-time positions. This includes various railroads, equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants and railroad construction companies.
