Third Annual Railroad Night on Feb. 19, 2008

What are the greatest challenges facing the Rail Industry today?

On February 19, 2008, over 100 Michigan Tech students, faculty and administration participated in the 3rd Annual Railroad Night.

The night was organized by the recently established Rail Transportation Program (RTP) together with Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC). Railroad Night was an opportunity to meet with the representatives of the North American railway industry who had come to the Winter Job Fair to meet and recruit students for employment.

The event program included:

  • Welcome by the University President, Dr. Glenn Mroz and by the Rail Transportation Program Director, Dr. Pasi Lautala

  • Update by REAC President, Brent Marsh

  • Presentation of an Honorary REAC Membership to Eric Peterson

  • Keynote address by Earl Currie

This year, a record eleven companies from the rail industry, ranging from Class I railroads to engineering consultants and equipment manufacturers were participating in and sponsoring the event. These companies combined over 200,000 employees and have come to Michigan Tech to identify young talent interested in becoming the next leaders of North American Rail Industry.
