2Yesenia Castro, BS Civil Engineering, New Mexico State University, MS planned in Civil Engineering

Hey, I’m Yesenia.  I’m a native Mexican but have been in the states for a good amount of time so I claim to be a Texan as well (yes, Cowboys fan all the way!).  I’ve spent most of my time in the desert and love it!  The most amazing sunsets are found there.  I enjoy just about anything outdoors; however, my ultimate love is soccer (World Cup S. Africa here I come!). I worked for a couple of years as a geotechnical engineer prior to the MI program.  I found out about Peace Corps while serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer and decided I’d eventually join.  The MI program was introduced to me a while later.  Peace Corps and a master’s degree, why not?  My thoughts on life…… “Enjoy yourself.  These are the good old days you’re going to miss in the years ahead.” Right now I’m just looking for some sunshine and Peace Corps life ahead!
