Megan Abbott, BS Chemical Engineering, University of Missouri, MS planned in Environmental Engineering

I grew up in the wonderful town of Springfield, Missouri.  After a bit of a search I ended up a few hours north at University of Missouri for undergrad.  There was not an environmental engineering program, so I pursued chemical engineering and took whatever environmental courses were offered.  After finishing up my four and a half years at Mizzou, I did a bit of searching and life evaluating before settling on MTU.  I knew I did not want a traditional job and could not get excited about a traditional master’s program either.  I wanted something else and the MI program seemed like a perfect fit.

I am interested in water resources, water treatment, and the influence of development on society.  I will be leaving in August for my placement in Belize, and am very excited to see what is in store for me there!
