MellorJonathan Mellor was born and raised in northern Virginia.  He graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and went straight to the University of Virginia to begin a PhD program in nuclear physics.  After two and a half years of study Jonathan decided to see the world.  He traveled independently for one year throughout sub-Sahara Africa, India, Southeast Asia, China, Australasia and Central America. Through that experience Jonathan saw first-hand the environmental degradation and human suffering throughout the world.  Check out his website for lots of pictures of his travels!

Upon his return to the United States Jonathan decided that a life in the physics lab was a little dull. After completing his M.S. degree in physics Jonathan enrolled in the Master’s International Program at MTU in January 2006. He will be leaving for the Peace Corps in March 2007 for two years of service in Uganda.

He’ll be posting updates on his website at http://rtwjon.blogspot.com/

Aside from traveling, Jonathan has a passion for the outdoors and is a professional outdoor leader back in Virginia.  He leads backpacking, camping and hiking trips throughout Virginia and West Virginia.  He is also an avid cyclist, runner and cross-country skier.
