Glen Vorhes was raised on a small family farm in central Wisconsin. The inclination to make things better was instilled at an early age. The object of this Bob the Builder outlook has come to include watersheds as well as wagons. “Can we fix it? Yes we can!” The road here has not been direct. Interests in nature led him to a degree from UW Madison in Biological Aspects of Conservation. Glenn soon learned that he could save trees with skills gained from a technical engineering education in addition to simply hugging them. The rare combination of training in both ecology and engineering will allow him a niche in future pursuits. The attraction of the Peace Corps program was the opportunity to put much needed skills into practice while earning a degree. Glenn seeks to mitigate the adversarial relationship between humans and the environment by advancing the benefits of wetlands and other natural areas.
