Drew
Snauffer, BS Nuclear Engineering, Penn State University,
MS planned
in Environmental Engineering.
Drew grew up in Montoursville, a small town in rural Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Penn State University Park campus with a BS in
Nuclear Engineering. His research experience includes radiation
backscattering and assignments in the Physics and Fusion Energy
Divisions at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Currently, he is modeling pollution back-trajectories based on
data from the PICO-NARE research station in the Azores, Portugal.
He is also part of the Sustainability Futures Institute and will
graduate with a Certificate in Sustainability. Raised on a farm
the oldest of 3 boys, Drew learned not only the value of hard work
but also how cool it is to drive a tractor.
Penn State opened his eyes to the world of geekdom and libations
and infected him with the travel bug. And he caught it bad. He spent
the next several years working as a computer consultant throughout
the U.S. and in Italy. On various breaks, he drove across the U.S.
and traveled throughout Mexico, Europe, Australia, and Africa.
This summer he participated in an Earthwatch Expedition on Global
Warming in Churchill, Canada, and did a solo trip to South America
where he went scuba diving with hammerheads in the Galapagos Islands.
In his free time, Drew is an avid motorcyclist, campfire builder,
and coffee drinker. He is now looking forward to bruising his butt
as he learns to snowboard Bohemia, drinking a little (more) tequila
in Mexico, and serving in the Peace Corps... wherever that takes
him.
