Ashlee Vincent, BS Civil Engineering, University of Portland, MS planned in Environmental Engineering
Ashlee grew up in Bellingham Washington; a gorgeous (used to be little) town situated on the waters of the Puget Sound and the foothills of Mt Baker.  She then attended Western Washington University for two years before transferring to the University of Portland (Oregon) to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.  Her interests at the time were related primarily to structural design.  She graduated in 2006 and worked for two years in the consulting industry in Portland.  Her first year of work was spent doing structural design, and the second year was spent trying to get away from structural design and into water resource management.
She originally found out about the Master’s International program at MTU through the Peace Corps website during her undergraduate years.  However, when she graduated she was unsure what she wanted to focus on in graduate school so decided to gain work experience to help guide her in her decision.  During those two years spent working, she found herself continuously drawn to water resource management and its growing importance in developing and developed countries alike.  She hopes that the Master’s International program will help her learn more about water resources while also allowing her to learn from the perspective of a developing community and the many challenges they face.
When she’s not busy studying she loves to do almost anything outside and active.  She competed on her collegiate cross-country and track teams at both University of Portland and Western Washington.  Since graduating she has continued to run, but is also enjoying having time for other endeavors like hiking, backpacking, swimming, skiing, and a little biking.  Also at the top of her list are: reading, baking, and cooking (mostly things with cheese!).
