Why Michigan Tech?

What will I do as a Peace Corps Volunteer?

Engineering Master’s International students work on a wide variety of projects while serving as water/sanitation volunteers with the Peace Corps. These projects are typically related to water supply, sanitation, watersheds, and erosion control problems. Other assignments include assisting provincial/municipal governments on issues related to water supply, wastewater treatment, and solid waste. Students get involved in all engineering aspects of a problem, including surveying, financing, design, scheduling, construction, operation/maintenance, and legal issues. Other engineering students have developed watershed management programs or designed and constructed water supply and wastewater treatment systems.

You can learn more about specific assignments by reviewing the “student profile” page.

The slide show on the opening web page, that provided an overview of our Master’s International program, provided many examples about what engineers do while serving in the Peace Corps.
