Academic Probation

Students receiving B/C, C, or F grades in any course must meet with their advisor during the following semester to review their status.

Students receiving anything less than a designation of “Satisfactory” on the Graduate Student Research Performance Evaluation Review must also discuss required actions to remediate their status with their advisor. Failure to take appropriate steps by the end of subsequent semester may result in a student’s being placed on probation or in a recommendation of withdrawal or dismissal.

Probationary status is reviewed at the end of each semester by the Graduate School to determine if the student may stay enrolled in the program. The Graduate School initiates academic probation and dismissal procedures.  The GRC Chair and the graduate advisor will respond to Graduate School requests.
