Highlights of the Programs
- Sustainable
Engineering Initiative:
Engineers will play a critical role in the eradication
of poverty and hunger and facilitation of sustainable
development, appropriate technology, beneficial infrastructure,
and social change.
- Graduate students
have access to more than 43,000 square feet of research
and teaching laboratories with new state-of-the-art equipment.
- Many areas
of concentration offer opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary
research.
- Master's
International program affiliated with U.S. Peace Corps
The only Master's International engineering program
in the country
- 2005
US News & World Report ranking of America's
Best Graduate Engineering Schools by Engineering
Specialties included the Michigan Tech Environmental
Engineering Program as 18th and the Michigan
Tech Civil Engineering Program as 50th
in the nation. About 150 public, doctoral degree-granting
universities are ranked.
- Research
funding $4.5 million per year: Engineering News Record ranked the C&EE department as one of the top ten (out
of 250) in the U.S. based on the percentage of departmental
income from research.
- Financial
assistance is available for M.S. and Ph.D. students and
includes teaching and research assistantships, PhD fellowships
and hourly employment.
