Laboratory for the Study of Human Impacts on the Global Atmosphere
901 Dow Environmental Sciences & Engineering
Development and application of measurement and modeling techniques for the study of the long-range transport of pollutants to rural and remote regions and resulting impacts on the photochemical state of the lower atmosphere (the troposphere). This work is particularly aimed at developing a thorough understanding of the processes that control human impacts on tropospheric ozone, a compound that controls the atmosphere's oxidative strength, is a "greenhouse gas," and is a plant toxicant at levels only slightly above current levels in remote regions.
