Helmuth Wilden, P.E., Class of '65
Mr. Helmuth Wilden earned a baccalaureate
degree in civil engineering in 1965. He is currently President
of H. Wilden & Associates, Inc. (HWA) of Allentown, Pennsylvania,
a consulting firm specializing in structural design and shop
drawing services to the precast, prestressed concrete industry.
Wilden founded a one-person firm in 1978 and has had constant
growth over the past twenty years to 30 employees. Prior to
starting HWA, Wilden worked as a structural engineer for a
number of companies in the precast industry. He served as
Vice-President of Universal Concrete Products Corp., General
Manager for Thomas Hanson & Associates, and Chief Engineer
for Formigili Corporation, a precast pioneer in the early
70's.
Helm is very active in several professional
organizations. During the past twenty-five years he has served
a number of roles with the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute
including Professional Member Director, Chairman of the Technical
Activities Committee and Chairman of the committee that developed
the 4th Edition of the PCI Design Handbook. He currently serves
on the Board of Directors as Chairman of the Research &
Development Committee. He became a Founding Fellow of PCI
in 1994.
Helm is President of the Lehigh Valley Chapter
of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and
received their Engineer of the Year Award in 1989. H. Wilden
& Associates received the State Societies' Professional
Development Award in 1984 and again in 1997. He currently
serves as Vice-Chair of PSPE's Practice Division of Professional
Engineers in Private Practice. As a member of the National
Society of Professional Engineers he is registered in more
than twenty states.
He is also actively involved with the Eastern
Pennsylvania Chapter march of Dimes and serves on the Executive
Committee for that organization. Helm and his wife, Mary Lou,
have three adult children and reside in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.
